After we get geared up with our kayaking apparel, it’s time to make sure your kayak fits you perfectly. Think of it like finding the right pair of shoes—once it's a perfect match in terms of length, width, and volume, you'll feel like an extension of the boat itself. This connection will make it so much easier to control the kayak, balance, and navigate the water. Plus, the more confident you feel, the more fun you’ll have!
We’ll take a short drive to one of the most scenic and tranquil stillwater spots in Shivpuri. It’s the ideal place to get started, with calm waters to ease you in. Here, our expert Kayak School Instructors will give you a comprehensive safety briefing, with demonstrations to make sure you're fully prepared. After that, we’ll get warmed up with some dry land exercises, so you can familiarize yourself with the basics before we hit the water.
Now it’s time for the real fun to begin! We’ll start by getting comfortable in the kayaks, focusing on balance and building your confidence on the water. The first key skill we’ll tackle is turning your kayak, followed by the essential forward stroke to get you paddling smoothly. By lunch, you’ll already be feeling more at ease on the water than you expected!
Lunch will be a well-deserved break by the banks of the Ganges, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views. As we eat, your instructors will give you individual feedback and share tips to help you improve your technique. And don’t worry—it’s not all serious business! There will be plenty of fun challenges and games, so you’ll be amazed at how quickly your skills and confidence are growing.
In the afternoon, we’ll dive back into the water, practicing the techniques we’ve learned so far. We’ll explore more advanced skills like edging your kayak for better control and learning how to prevent capsizing. Don’t worry—if you do happen to tip over, you’ll be well-prepared to handle it with ease!
By the end of the day, you’ll be ready for your wet exit—a key skill in any kayaker’s repertoire. Whether we’re playing a game of canoe polo or tag, or simply practicing, you’ll get the chance to safely flip your kayak, exit, and then pull it back to shore. It’s a great confidence booster and a perfect way to wrap up your first day on the water.
This isn’t just the start of your course; it’s your introduction to the thrilling world of whitewater kayaking. Get ready for a day full of learning, adventure, and unforgettable experiences!
